"Altai? Where is that? In Siberia? What the heck do you do there?" This was the typical
response to our plans for the summer vacation. I don't know what Martin and Roy wanted
to do there. Probably searching an adventure. I wanted to have some fun and take pictures
like this. It shows an evening mood in Chemal.
But let us first look, where the Altai mountains are located. The marker points to
Kosh-Agach, the most remote place of our journey. If one is not keen on the sea,
the Altai mountains are the right spot. One can not be further away from the sea.
That is the reason for the monument "Heart of Eurasia" at the entrance to the
Republic Altai.
